Lowokwaru, MC – In 2016, PDAM (Regional Drinking Water Company_ed) collaborated with the Directorate General of Human Settlements of the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing of the Republic of Indonesia for the 100-0-100 program (100% access to drinking water, 0% slum areas, and 100% access to proper sanitation_ed). In this case, Malang City is also a fostered city to make the program a success.

The Ministry of PUPR of the Republic of Indonesia will provide assistance so that PDAM can serve 100 percent of the clean water needs of Malang City residents until 2019. In addition, Malang City is also expected to be free of slum areas in the next three years.
That was conveyed by the Technical Director of PDAM Malang City, Ir. Teguh Cahyono, MAB to the media crew, Friday (22/1) at a gathering event in the Tlogomas Water Reservoir area. According to him, this year, Rp100 billion of the Rp300 billion programmed will be disbursed.
"The assistance for PDAM will be used for public services, such as for repairing distribution networks and reservoirs. In 2016, this will be centered in the eastern region of Malang City, namely the Kedungkandang District area such as in Buring, Baran, Wonokoyo and its surroundings," added Teguh.
Meanwhile, the western region, he continued, is in the Lowokwaru District area such as in Joyogrand, Gasek and Tidar. In both areas, previously or currently still included areas with rather difficult water supply, so it is a priority program of PDAM Malang City. "The target in these two areas can be served by 12 thousand consumers. So every year there must be an additional 12-13 thousand new connections to achieve 100 percent service," he explained.
If it can be implemented well, Teguh explained, his party is optimistic that in 2017 Malang City residents can enjoy 100 percent clean water smoothly. "What is noted is that budget support from the center is also smooth. While the normal tariff for a new connection is between Rp 1-7 million. However, if there is a subsidy from the government, it is only Rp 1,2 million. While for Low-Income Communities/ MBR it is only Rp 550 thousand," he said. (say/yon)
