Kedungkandang, MC – In order to prevent flooding, especially in the area of RW 3 Kedungkandang Village, Kedungkandang District, Malang City, residents held a community service in the Amprong River area, Sunday (24/1). A total of 150 residents from RT 1 to RT 8 together with a platoon (28 personnel) of the TNI from the Light Air Defense Artillery Battalion (Yon Arhanudri) II Kostrad Malang mingled to clean the riverbank, make embankments, and plant trees.

This community service is also a manifestation of the unity of the TNI and the people in the social agenda, and is a Karya Bakti Binter (Territorial Development) program for the TNI. The rainy season like now is prone to flooding, and one of the causes is overflowing rivers. Residents who live not far from the big river (Amprong) are indeed prone to or at high risk of being hit by floods. Although the last flood in this river area was in 1987, this community service was carried out to anticipate unwanted things.
At least that was what was conveyed by the Head of RW 3 Kedungkandang Village, Agus Surahman when met after the community service event. "Since several years ago, the Irrigation Department has provided special supervision in anticipating this flood. Since 1987 until now there has never been a flood again, and we are very happy to be able to cooperate and receive assistance from these TNI gentlemen," he said, Sunday (24/1).
The middle-aged man added that this kind of cooperation has been carried out twice, and thank God the residents and the TNI are always united in social activities like this. "Previously, we did submit a letter of request to the TNI leadership, and immediately received a quick response. The TNI does have high concern for the people, especially in our area. Once again, we express our deepest gratitude to these TNI gentlemen," explained Agus.
Meanwhile, Danton 3 Yon Arhanudri II Kostrad Malang, Letda Arh Cholish said that his party was happy because they could help residents, especially to anticipate this flood. In fact, he said, even without being asked, the TNI will always be ready to help residents. "In this Karya Bakti Binter program, we also carry out various activities such as road repairs, house renovations, renovations of places of worship and others," he explained. (say/yon)
