Klojen, MC – The Directorate General (Ditjen) of New, Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation (EBTKE) of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) of the Republic of Indonesia in collaboration with the Malang City Government held a Technical Guidance (Bimtek) on the Implementation of Energy Conservation in Malang City, East Java Province, which took place at the Aria Gajayana Hotel, Malang City, Tuesday (2/2).

The activity, which was officially opened by the Assistant for General Administration of the Malang City Regional Secretariat, Yudhi K. Ismawardi, SH, M.Hum, was attended by 100 participants from SKPD (Regional Work Units_ed) within the Malang City Government.
Present as speakers were the Head of the Regional Development Planning Agency (Bappeda) of Malang City, Drs. Wasto, SH, MH, Assistant Manager of Planning and Evaluation of PT. PLN Malang Area Irwanto Wahyu Kusumo, and from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Directorate General of EBTKE DR. Arief Heru Kuncoro, MT.
"Malang City, which already has an alternative energy source in the form of methane gas at the Supit Urang TPA (Final Disposal Site), will continue to strive to develop other alternative energy resources," explained Yudhi on the sidelines of the event, Tuesday (2/2).
He added that Supit Urang Landfill is one of Malang City's potentials that can bring prosperity to residents, especially those around the landfill. "Methane gas from waste has long been utilized by residents, and it really helps them," he explained.
In Malang City, he said, in addition to methane gas, waste is also utilized to become high-value and highly beneficial goods for the community. Namely with the existence of the Malang Waste Bank (BSM) which has become a national model.
"For methane gas from this waste, it is a good renewable energy, and has been done by many developed countries. Therefore, Malang City will later develop something similar," he concluded. (say/yon)
