Klojen, MC – National Paralympic Committee (NPC) Malang City is very serious in preparing its athletes so that in the National Paralympic Week (Peparnas) many of its athletes can pass the selection to represent East Java. Facing the selection which is planned to be held in April 2016, NPC Malang City has prepared its six best athletes, Tuesday (23/2).

NPC Malang City Chairman, Kusminto, confirmed that currently there are six athletes prepared to appear in the East Java selection. Of the six athletes who are currently undergoing intensive preparation, all are targeted to qualify to represent the East Java team.
"The East Java Peparnas team selection will reportedly be held in April, currently all Malang City athletes are ready to compete," explained Kusminto, Tuesday (23/2).
Kusminto explained that the six athletes that the NPC of Malang City had prepared were Kalilu Rohman (swimming for the visually impaired), Handayani (badminton for the mentally disabled), Andi Dwi Susianto (badminton for the hearing impaired), Rizal Yahya (table tennis for the mentally disabled), Sunarto (swimming for the visually impaired), Oddie Kurnia Dwi LP (badminton for the physically disabled).
"Of the six athletes we have prepared to appear in the East Java selection, we are counting on two to be able to win the Peparnas Bandung championship in June 2016," explained Kusminto.
The two NPC athletes of Malang City who are expected to win the Bandung Peparnas are Sunarto and Oddie who already have international flying hours. In the Peparnas event later, besides the host Bandung, Kusminto sees the strength of DKI Jakarta, Central Java and DIY as the toughest opponents.
"For the selection of the East Java Peparnas team, I am sure that six Malang City athletes can qualify. For the target of winning Peparnas in Bandung, we rely on Sunarto and Oddie," added Kusminto.
To maximize the ability of Malang City athletes before appearing in the East Java Perpanas selection, Malang City athletes are temporarily training with their respective clubs. Only later when the championship is approaching, the athletes will undergo training camps so they can perform optimally. (cah/yon)
