Head of the East Java II Regional Office of Customs and Excise, Nirwala Dwi Heryanto, explained the characteristics of genuine and fake excise stamps to journalists and the Head of the Malang Raya PWI, Thursday (3/3)

This was conveyed by the Head of the Regional Office of the Directorate General of Customs and Excise (Kakanwil DJBC) East Java II, Nirwala Dwi Heryanto, SE, M.Si, to the media crew at the event 'Forging Friendship Building Synergy' at KPPBC-TMC Malang, Thursday (3/3).

According to him, currently there are still many violations related to the use of excise stamps. Examples include plain cigarettes that do not use excise stamps, excise stamps that are not in accordance with their intended use, and used or fake excise stamps.

"Violations of the use of excise stamps are caused by three things, namely because of the company's ignorance, rules that cannot be implemented, and because of deliberate factors. For violations due to deliberate elements, it is clear that criminal sanctions will be imposed for up to 10 years. However, what needs attention is for cigarette companies that do not understand the rules, they must get attention from Customs," explained Nirwala.

He added that the ranks of Customs and Excise in the future must continue to intensify socialization to the community and cigarette entrepreneurs so that they can suppress violations of the use of excise stamps. In this case, journalists are very helpful and their function must be optimized, namely by establishing good relations with journalists.

For the rules that cannot be implemented, Nirwala continued, the Customs will invite and ask the cigarette business association and other related agencies to discuss it. "Why the rules cannot be implemented, the best solution must be found immediately. We from the ranks of Customs will definitely review the rules that cannot be implemented later," he explained.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) Malang, Sugeng Irawan welcomed this event, because it can increase knowledge for journalists and improve good relations between the two parties. "Journalists are not superman who know everything, so that events like this can increase their knowledge,” he said. (say/yon)
