Bekraf Improves Creative Economy Ecosystem

This activity, which is packaged in the form of a conference, expo and cultural festival, is a concrete manifestation of the establishment of the Creative Economy Agency since January 25, 2015 with the appointment of Triawan Munaf as its chairman.

The Government of the Republic of Indonesia under the leadership of President Joko Widodo wants to make the creative economy sector the backbone of the archipelago's economy. Bekraf has formulated 16 creative industry subsectors to be developed in order to support the national economy.

The 16 sub-sectors include application and game development, architecture, interior design, visual communication design, product design, fashion, film, video animation, photography, crafts, culinary, music, publishing, advertising, performing arts, fine arts, television and radio.

For this reason, it is hoped that a number of inputs and recommendations regarding the development of the 16 creative industry sub-sectors can be produced from the implementation. Indonesia Creative Cities Conference (ICCC) II 2016 in Malang City so that the ideals of forming a sustainable Creative City as the theme event can be achieved in the near future.

For your information, the creative economy has contributed Rp 642 trillion or 7,05 percent of Indonesia's total Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in the past year. Bekraf targets the creative economy's contribution to increase to 12 percent by the end of Jokowi's administration in 2019.

To achieve this target, Bekraf has prepared strategic steps. Namely, uniting all of Indonesia's creative assets and potentials and creating a creative economy climate and ecosystem. These two points are expected to be achieved in the near future by holding a creative economy conference.

Deputy for Infrastructure at Bekraf, Dr. Hari S. Sungkar said that Creative Cities can be in the form of creative clusters and creative Relationships are one of the creative economic ecosystems.

"With the formation of a network of creative districts and cities in Indonesia, it is hoped that there will be collaboration between districts/cities throughout Indonesia that will accelerate creative economic activities ranging from creation, production, distribution, exhibition and conservation, the aim of which is to improve the welfare of residents in the regions and nationally," he said, Tuesday (22/3).

The next step prepared by Bekraf is to encourage innovation that has competitiveness and added value in the international world, build awareness and appreciation of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and legal protection of copyright and design and implement specific strategies to place Indonesia on the world's creative economy map.
