Starfruit, MC – Currently, there are 327 companies in Malang Raya (Malang City, Batu City and Malang Regency) that have problems with the BPJS Employment program. In connection with this, the Malang Branch of BPJS Employment signed a cooperation agreement with the District Attorney's Office (Kejari) throughout Malang Raya (Malang District Attorney, Kepanjen District Attorney, Batu City District Attorney_ed) and submitted a Special Power of Attorney (SKK) to resolve the problem, Monday (28/3).
Head of the East Java BPJS Ketenagakerjaan Office, Abdul Cholik, said that the reasons why companies have not paid or registered their employees to become BPJS Ketenagakerjaan participants vary widely. "The rational reason is because of the ability to pay, which is the same as when the obligation to increase the Provincial Minimum Wage (UMP)," he said.
"In addition, there are some who object and some because of avoidance factors. In the future, we hope that all companies will immediately fulfill their obligations. That is why we cooperate and submit the SKK to the District Attorney's Office to resolve this problem," Cholik added.
He added, in one year in East Java, there were around 2.272 people who died or around 10 people per day. "Related to this, BPJS Ketenagakerjaan East Java during 2015 paid claims of Rp 1,719 trillion or Rp 218.484 per person. For the number of work accidents, in one year there were 17.751 people or 80 accidents every day. We paid claims of Rp 98,2 billion with a breakdown of Rp 322 million per day," explained Cholik.
He further said that BPJS Ketenagakerjaan will continue to socialize the importance of becoming a BPJS Ketenagakerjaan participant. "Not only companies, members of the public in general are also our targets. There are many benefits that can be obtained by becoming a BPJS Ketenagakerjaan participant, such as if someone has a work accident and is not cover by BPJS Kesehatan, we can handle it," explained Cholik.
If the company and/or BPJS Ketenagakerjaan participants pay their obligations properly, he explained, then all claims will be paid optimally. "In addition to getting protection, BPJS Ketenagakerjaan participants will also get pension money from the Old Age Security (JHT) facility," concluded Cholik. (say/yon)
