Klojen, MC – The Indonesian Creative Economy Agency (Bekraf) has opened the tap for foreign investment for the animation and film industry. This was conveyed by the Head of Bekraf Indonesia, Triawan Munaf when visiting the animation competition in Digital Innovation Lounge (DiLO) Malang, Thursday (31/3). According to him, the development and progress of Indonesia's creative industry, especially Malang City, has been quite good so far even though it must continue to be optimized.

In the series Indonesia Creative Cities Conference (ICCC) 2016 held in Malang City, Triawan also gave positive appreciation for the creativity of the young people of Malang City, especially in the field of animation, which has penetrated the national market. In the future, he hopes that the creativity of Malang City can penetrate the international market.

Regarding foreign investment, Triawan admitted that it would not disrupt the existence of the domestic market, because foreign parties only invest their funds. "They come to Indonesia to invest, and if they later make a profit, that's normal, because it's a business. For example, if they invest in the film industry, then what they do or invest in is around Indonesian films, not foreign films," he explained.

In terms of budget or capital, Triawan said that our film industry is sometimes still constrained and lacking. Therefore, the government provides opportunities for foreign parties to invest. "Thus, it is hoped that it will further develop the Indonesian film industry," Triawan hoped.

In addition to capital, he continued, in terms of teaching staff and expertise in the field of film and animation, we actually also need workers from abroad. "To further increase the knowledge and expertise of our film workers such as directors, producers, cameramen and others, it would be more optimal if there were additional mentors from abroad," continued Triawan.

"If possible, foreign parties can also establish animation and film schools in Indonesia. So there is a special place of learning for these creative and innovative young Indonesians. One note that needs to be underlined is that foreign parties only invest capital with a return on profit and may not bring in experts from Indonesia after they are skilled," concluded Triawan.
