Malang City Needs Rest Area

Klojen, MC – Malang City has now developed into a big city and become a transit point for tourists, both foreign and domestic tourists. This certainly can be a great opportunity for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to market their products. Unfortunately, this great opportunity has not been properly developed.

This was stated by Teguh Mahir Sisbandonoyudo from the Widyaiswara Madya UPT Diklat Koperasi and UMKM (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises_ed) of East Java Province when he was a speaker at the Economic Development Coordination event held by the Malang City Regional Development Planning Agency (Bappeda) at the Trio Indah 2 Hotel, Thursday (14/4).

"Malang City should already have rest area which is also a strategic and spacious SME center market. Where later tourists will be required to visit it," said Teguh, Thursday (14/4).

In the SME center market, SME players can exhibit their products and sell them. This will certainly help SME players who have had difficulty marketing their products. In addition, it is also useful for inviting participants to continue to improve product innovation and not just be able to follow the trend. Such as following the trend in selling meatballs or fried rice products which are only a name war but not a taste war.

In addition to Teguh, another speaker who attended was Dias Satria, Expert Staff for Budget at the East Java Provincial Bappeda. He raised the issue of how Malang City should transform into a creative city, one of which is by reviving the creative economy.

The creative economy he meant was by supporting the results of community creativity and making it into a product that has a selling value. "The key to the success of the growth of this creative economy is if intellectuals, business people and the government can collaborate. If this can be open, the creative economy will advance," explained the man who once won an award Young Economist from the Indonesian Minister of Finance.

Meanwhile, Head of Bappeda Malang City, Drs. Wasto, SH, MH said that this activity is more focused on 'Strategy to Strengthen the Competitiveness of Business World, IKM and UMKM in Facing Global Economic Turmoil'.

"We hope that there will be many strategic ideas that emerge from this activity so that SMEs in Malang City can grow even more and Malang City will be increasingly known to the outside community," said Wasto. (cah/yon)
