Head of RW 3, Kedunkandang Subdistrict, Agus Surahman confirmed that the 167-meter long park on the banks of the Amprong River was a building built independently by residents.

"Previously, this place was used for the placement of katel sand, after receiving approval from the East Java Provincial Irrigation Service, it was finally utilized by residents by building an educational park," explained Agus, Sunday (17/4).

In addition to funds from community self-help, Agus said that the representative Education Park could be built after receiving assistance from the Malang City Government which was distributed through the Kedungkandang Sub-district after previously being approved in the 2015 Musrenbang (Development Planning Meeting_ed).

"The creation of this park was purely a citizen's initiative based on the fact that this area used to be known as a bit spooky. Thank God, after going through various processes, the educational park was finally realized," said Agus.

The construction of the educational park, Agus explained, was carried out by eight RTs in RW 3, Kedungkandang Village. The park design and materials were all from community self-help.

The development of this Education Park also involves the TNI in synergy with the community to create a beautiful and green Malang City.
