INOTEK 2016 Competition Enters Judging Stage

Klojen, MC – In order to increase the acceleration of the development of science and technology (IPTEK) through the exploration of technological innovation and IPTEK resources, the Regional Development Planning Agency (Bappeda) of Malang City held the 2016 Malang City Technology Innovation Competition (INOTEK).

This competition has started since March 7, 2016, and has now reached the second judging stage which will be held from May 17-20, 2016 at the Malang City Bappeda Office.

Head of Research and Development Division of Bappeda Malang City Dra. Rukayah M.Si explained that the Inotek competition is free of charge. From 64 proposals for all categories of innovation fields (Agribusiness, Energy, ICT, and Environment) that were registered as registrants, the initial judging stage was carried out which would later be determined by the jury as the selected proposal to be presented at the forum.

"The selected proposals or nominees consist of the Agribusiness Sector with ten nominees, the Environment Sector with ten nominees, the Energy Sector with five nominees, and the ICT Sector with 12 nominees. The competition participants are individuals or groups (teams)," said Rukayah, Wednesday (18/05).

Group participants, he said, consist of a maximum of five people and are only allowed to include one field of innovation that will be competed. "This competition is intended for all residents of Malang City and the innovations being competed have never won a championship in any competition," continued Rukayah.

One of the nominees in the Energy Sector from the POTRET (Renewable Energy Producing Speed ​​Bump) team, Hasan, delivered his concept of a speed bump that can function as an electricity generator with his three colleagues while carrying a fairly large prop to demonstrate in front of the jury. Hasan and his team hope that their hard work can produce innovative results that are useful for urban communities, especially Malang City.

"Through this competition, it is hoped that we can embrace all innovators in Malang City, both those based on... grassroots or those based on research and technology," explained Rukayah.

Meanwhile, Drs. Wasto, SH, MH as the Head of Bappeda Malang City said that a total prize of millions of rupiah has been prepared for the winners. "On June 10, 2016 there will be an announcement of the winners and it will end with an exhibition of works and the Awarding of Malang City Technology Innovation," he concluded. (say/yon)
