Klojen, MC – The General Ahmad Yani Mosque located on Jl. Kahuripan, Malang City is a historical mosque about the synergy between the TNI and local residents. The mosque, which was built in the 1960s, still stands majestically and is one of the places for spreading Islam. It is named the General Ahmad Yani Mosque because in addition to being in the middle of the city, there are many TNI complexes around the mosque, including the 0833 Kodim and the dormitories of high-ranking TNI officers.
As is well known, General Ahmad Yani is a revolutionary figure and is widely known by the public, so the naming of this mosque is expected to be easily recognized. The mosque, which is located on 400 square meters of land, can accommodate a congregation of approximately 1.500 people. Not only that, around the mosque under the auspices of the General Ahmad Yani foundation, there are also several educational institutions, cooperatives, and zakat collection agencies. This is to further strengthen the propagation of Islam from the sharia side.
At least that is what was conveyed by the Chairman of the General Ahmad Yani Foundation, Mochammad Hadi, Monday (4/7). He added that some parts of the mosque have not experienced many changes, such as the mosque dome, the supporting pillars inside the mosque, and the towering tower.
"Some of the Islamic propagation activities include reciting recitations after every morning prayer, studying Islamic religion such as jurisprudence, interpretation of hadith, learning the Koran, the correct way to perform ablution and prayer, and so on. "Thus, the function of this mosque is not only limited to a place for praying, but is broader in shaping the soul of Muslims to be better," added Hadi.
Because the initial construction was a synergy between the TNI and the residents, explained the friendly man, until now the management of the mosque's management still involves TNI elements. "On the other hand, the shape of the mosque building is also not made magnificent, and most importantly the congregation or Muslims who perform prayers in this mosque feel comfortable and solemn. This is in accordance with the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad SAW," explained Hadi.
"In the future, this mosque is also expected to produce a young generation that is Islamic. This can be realized with routine activities of learning the Quran from scratch, how to perform ablution and prayer that are more prioritized for young people. Hopefully the existence of the Ahmad Yani mosque can be more beneficial for Muslims and society in general," he concluded. (say/yon)
