Kedungkandang, MC – The Ritual and Cultural Parade for the 191st Anniversary of Eng An Kiong Temple on Jl. Laksamana Martadinata was directly launched by the Mayor of Malang, H. Moch. Anton, Sunday (17/7).

The procession around the city of Malang starts at the Chinese temple - Jl. Pasar Besar and finishes at the temple again.
On this occasion, in addition to the Mayor, also present were the Deputy Mayor of Malang Drs. Sutiaji, Chairman of the Malang City DPRD Arif Wicaksono, and several leaders of SKPD (Regional Work Units), as well as Forpimda together with the Interfaith Harmony Forum (FKUB).

"The Malang City Government really appreciates this procession because it is part of cultural preservation," said Abah Anton, the familiar greeting of the Mayor of Malang after sending off the procession.
According to Abah Anton, the way to maintain culture in the midst of this rapid modernization needs to be done, so that the next generation of the nation can understand the meaning of culture. "If not from the young people as the relay baton, who else will care," he said.
"We will continue to synergize with Eng An Kiong Temple, especially in terms of maintaining this culture. Young people must play a big role in maintaining or preserving the culture of our ancestors' heritage so that it does not become extinct," he said.
Abah Anton also appreciated the efforts of the Eng An Kiong Temple Foundation which is always responsive to social problems by providing assistance to the underprivileged. "I congratulate the Eng An Kiong Temple on its 191st anniversary. Hopefully next year it will be even more glorious," he concluded. (say/yon)
