Malang City Participates in Prepcom for Habitat III International Exhibition

The first Prepcom was held in New York, United States in 2014, then in Nairobi, Kenya in 2015, and the third Prepcom was held in Surabaya, Indonesia from July 25 to July 27, 2016.

The opening ceremony began with a report from the Minister of Public Works, Public Housing of the Republic of Indonesia, DR. Ir. Mochamad Basoeki Hadimoeljono, M. Sc and the Secretary General of UN Habitat, Joan Clos before being continued with keynote address by Vice President Jusuf Kalla.

"The problem of settlements and cities is our problem. This is closely related to the inevitable urbanization. So our task through habitat is to formulate ways to present a safe, comfortable, inclusive and resilient city. For that, the ideas of sustainability, green cities, settlement financing banks, terrorism, development smart city"Food and employment are important to prioritize," explained Vice President Jusuf Kalla before officially opening the exhibition with a gong-beating procession.

Of course, it is a matter of pride when the PUPR Ministry through the Directorate General of Human Settlements invites Malang City as one of nine urban areas in Indonesia to take part in an urban innovation exhibition from dozens of cities. booth international in a series of Prepcom III activities which will be held at Grand City Mall & Convex Surabaya.

This exhibition is very strategic to introduce various innovations that have been born by the government and the people of Malang City to the world. Welcome event This large-scale Malang City Government has prepared a team consisting of the Malang City Public Works, Housing and Building Supervision Service (DPUPPB), Malang City Health Service, Malang Waste Bank, BLH, and Bappeda as well as logistical support from the Regional Secretariat and Malang City DKP. 

The themes raised are settlement and basic services and environment arrangement. Some of the programs displayed are 100-0-100, Malang Waste Bank, Community-Based Sanitation (STBM), Anticipation of Climate Resilient Cities, Revitalization of City Parks, Water Saving Movement, and Shining Village Competition.

"The participation of Malang City is an honor and testimony of a number of village improvements and innovations of our community who have also just been happy to win the Adipura Kirana Cup 2016.
