WHAT'S THAT?
The Malang Design Festival is a regional design competition activity carried out in a participatory manner by the community, assisted by a mentoring team (can be proposed independently by the community and/or assisted by community service from universities) to encourage the birth of thematic villages typical of Malang City.
HOW DOES THE PROCESS WORK?
During July-November 2016 the following will be carried out:
- Socialization and Publication
- 57 Sub-districts in Malang City propose thematic villages in their areas
- Malang City Government submits application for assistance/community service to Universities/Professional Associations
- Distribution of the support team to the villages was carried out
- Technical meeting
- The design process with the community lasts 50-60 days (the community puts forward ideas, the support team helps direct the concept and translates it into an output product)
- Design Review Process by jury and committee
- Submission of design results
- Initial judging
- Best Nomination
- Big 5 (five) Finals and Awards
OUTCOME?
Expected birth 57 Thematic Village as an icon and driver of the growth of the welfare of the people of Malang City.
- Malang City Government:
- Obtaining input on the design of areas needed by the community which can be taken into consideration in compiling development priorities.
- Community in the Design Area:
- Get the opportunity to develop participation in the development planning process.
- Get the opportunity to implement priority development proposals in the coming year.
- General public:
- Get learning from the design process carried out in this event.
- Academics:
- Space for the dedication of knowledge that is beneficial to society.
- Becoming a contributor to realizing thematic villages in Malang City.
