Since August 1, the Malang City Cleaning and Parks Department (DKP) has started working on the park by replacing some of the flowers in the pots with red and white flowers. The types of flowers chosen are red and white chrysanthemums and poinsettias which are placed in vertical garden. Thus, this also adds to the beauty of the garden.

That was conveyed by the Head of the Plant Nursery UPT of the Malang City DKP, Kuncahyani, Wednesday (10/8). According to him, by giving a red and white nuance to the city park, at least it can create a different impression in enlivening the 71st Anniversary of Indonesian Independence.

He added that not only the city parks will be beautified, but the nuances of red and white flowers will also color the telephone poles and traffic light intersections, especially those in the city center. "Some of the places that we have completed are the traffic lights on Jl. Kahuripan, Jl. Arjuno, parks and telephone poles on Jl. Sriwijaya," Yani added.

"With the red and white nuances taken from this flower, it is also expected to further beautify Malang City. In addition, the beauty of Malang City park has also received the best national award, so we must maintain that predicate, and even improve it in the future," explained Kuscahyani.

One of the residents of Malang City, Niar Wahyuni, responded positively to what the DKP (Malang City) did. According to her, if the city park has a red and white nuance when enlivening the Indonesian Independence Day, it is extraordinary and deserves appreciation.

"Flowers are beautiful plants, and are loved by everyone. With red and white flowers in August, at least it can increase our nationalistic spirit," he said. (say/yon)
