In addition, present at this activity representing the Mayor of Malang, Head of the Department of Public Works, Housing and Building Supervision of Malang City (DPUPPB) Malang City DR. Ir. Drs. Djarot Edy Sulistyono, M.Si who discussed the success of Malang City in implementing the Slum-Free City Program. The second phase of training was attended by around 1.200 facilitators from various regions in East Java.
Djarot also revealed that Malang City is very serious in implementing various programs, the essence of which is to eradicate slums. This year, Malang City has budgeted around Rp 10 billion to address and support this program.
"There are quite a few slums in Malang City that have now been transformed into cleaner villages such as in Jodipan with Kampung Warna Warni, in Ksatrian with Kampung Tiga Dimensi. With the success of Malang City in handling slums, it is hoped that it can be an inspiration for other areas in East Java," he explained.
"We hope that the facilitators who participate in this activity can convey to the community how to change slums into beautiful ones, I am sure that with the experience of the facilitators, dream villages in East Java will become a reality faster," explained Gus Ipul. (cah/yon)
