Klojen, MC – Regional Championship (Kejurda)Woodball throughout East Java which was held at the Rampal Field in Malang received quite good enthusiasm. No less than 86 athletes wood ball East Java appeared in the championship which was held for the first time in Malang City, Saturday (20/8).
Head Indonesian Woodball Association (IWbA) East Java, Gamaliel Raymond H. Matondang confirmed that this championship in Malang City was the first of its kind.
"Malang City is still just starting to establish a branch wood ball who joined KONI Malang City. Currently we continue to introduce it to the public, one of which is by holding a championship," he explained, Saturday (20/8).
Raymond said wood ball itself is a sport from Taiwan that is currently being popularized in Indonesia. In the upcoming XIX National Sports Week (PON) in West Java, it will be competed in an exhibition match.
"After competing in the exhibition match in West Java, in the next PON, the branch... wood ball will be competed officially," said Raymond.
The championship in Malang City itself is recognized as an event to find potential athlete seeds to be taken to defend East Java in the upcoming PON.
