Breadfruit, MC – Growing up in Malang City and succeeding in the capital as a drummer, John Arif or better known as John Arif 'Kopi Rock' never forgot his homeland. The man who is also a coffee entrepreneur donated his Sundanese drum to the Indonesian Music Museum (MMI), Monday (22/8).

At the handover ceremony of the drums held at the Gajayana Arts Building in Malang, John had the opportunity to show off his skill in playing the drums. Not only playing the drums with his eyes open, this funny man also played his drums with his eyes closed.
Thanks to the drums, he said he was able to travel around the archipelago and even travel to Italy, Germany and France, which really impressed him.
Europeans, he said, really admire the greatness of the drums, this is somewhat different from Indonesia where many still consider playing the drums to be... country. In fact, with perseverance, the kendang has the chance to become a world-class musical instrument.
"It's actually hard to let go of the drums of memories that have accompanied me since I first learned music. But for the sake of drum education in Malang City, I am willing to let go of these drums," said John, Tuesday (22/8).
With the addition of John Arif's drum collection, MMI's collection is now more complete. At least there are currently five types of musical instruments originating from various regions in Indonesia. (cah/yon)
