Every item purchased by consumers such as meat, rice, fruit, flour and others are re-weighed at the Disperindag booth located at the market exit. The public looks enthusiastic to re-weigh the items they have purchased.

Two weeks earlier, the Malang City Trade and Industry Office also held the same thing in several traditional markets, such as Sawojajar Market, Gadang Main Market, and Janti Market. The results showed no significant findings. Most of the weighing results were right and some were even more, even though it was only one to two ounces.

This was conveyed by the Head of the Malang City Trade and Industry Agency, Dra. Tri Widyani P., M.Si on the sidelines of the free reweighing activity. Activities like this, he continued, are indeed carried out routinely to provide protection to consumers, especially for unwrapped goods.

Previously, traders were also given special training so that they would not cheat in trading, especially regarding scales. "We even provide understanding from a religious perspective by bringing in religious figures. Thus, traders' understanding is more comprehensive," explained the woman in the hijab.

When asked if fraud or underweight of goods is found after reweighing, according to Yani, the Trade and Industry Office will provide special guidance to the person concerned. "In addition, the weighing equipment will also be recalibrated. However, so far there have been no findings like that," he concluded. (say/yon)
