Jakarta, MC – Malang City Government has once again received a national award. This time the Indonesian Ministry of Home Affairs gave an award for the Implementation of Birth Registration Services because of the performance of Malang City which successfully achieved the national target of birth certificate ownership coverage in 2016 faster than the deadline that had been set.

The award, which was certainly very proud, was received directly by the Head of the Population and Civil Registration Service (Dispendukcapil) of Malang City, Dra. Metawati Ika Wardani, M.Si in Pekanbaru, Wednesday (24/8) evening, which was presented directly by the Director General of Population and Civil Registration of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Prof. Dr. Zudan Arif Fakrulloh, SH, MH, witnessed directly by the Governor of Riau.
Malang City is one of 50 districts/cities that have succeeded in achieving the national target in issuing birth certificates for children aged 0-18 years.
Malang Mayor H. Moch. Anton greatly appreciates the achievements of the Malang City Population and Civil Registry Office. According to him, this shows the commitment of the Malang City Government in public services, especially in the field of birth certificate management.
"Of course, the achievements that we have made are a form of the seriousness of the (Malang) City Government in serving the public," said the man who is familiarly called Abah Anton.
Malang City itself received the award because the government assessed that the performance of the Population and Civil Registry Service in processing birth certificates exceeded the national target. In 2015 alone, from the national target of 75 percent calculated per August, the Malang City Population and Civil Registry Service exceeded that figure and managed to reach 83 percent.
Meanwhile, for the national target in 2016, Malang City Government also reached 83 percent of the total target of 77 percent in August 2016.
Head of Dispendukcapil Malang City Dra. Metawati Ika Wardhani, M.Si said, the success in the field of birth certificate registration is inseparable from the innovation that continues to be carried out. One way to boost the number of certificate registrations is done by collaborating with maternity hospitals and sub-districts in Malang City.
For maternity hospitals, the Population and Civil Registry Office has prepared facilities and infrastructure so that data recording and input can be carried out directly at the hospital location without having to come to the Population and Civil Registry Office.
"If normal administration takes four to five days, we can cut the time to just three days," said Metawati.
Until September 2016, the target of birth certificate registration has reached 84,60 percent or has reached around 11 thousand birth certificates that have been made. While in 2015, Dispendukcapil managed to issue around 20 thousand birth certificates.
"We are confident that this year (2016) the number will increase from last year (2015), considering that our program is running well," he said.
In fact, in order to improve public services in the field of civil registration, Dispendukcapil also opens the processing of making electronic ID cards or KTP-el every Saturday and Sunday at the Sub-district office. "The requirements are easy, just bring the old KTP and old KK," explained Metawati. (say/yon)
