Packaged Goods Do Not Escape Supervision of the Ministry of Trade Team

Kedungkandang, MC – Some time ago, the Industry and Trade Agency (Disperindag) of Malang City held a re-measurement post for non-goods in unpackaged conditions in several traditional markets in Malang City. Yesterday, Thursday (25/8) it was the turn of the Indonesian Ministry of Trade (Kemendag) to conduct supervision and inspection of packaged goods.

The purpose of the inspection is a modern market located on Jl. Danau Toba, Sawojajar. This agenda aims to provide protection to consumers, namely the community. The team from the Ministry of Trade checked several packaged goods, such as rice, sugar, cooking oil, packaged drinks and others.

In addition to checking the weight of the contents by re-weighing, officers from the Ministry of Trade also check the product labels. What is checked is whether the product includes the company name, city, whether the quantity of goods is written correctly or not, and the size of the letters or numbers on the goods label.

Head of Metrology Operational Guidance Section of the Indonesian Ministry of Trade, Miss Martin Caliandra, said that her team had been doing the same thing in around ten cities in Indonesia, and Malang City was the last.

When asked about the interim results of the examination, the woman in the hijab admitted that she could not explain directly because from the examples of goods that were monitored, they would be examined more intensively in the laboratory. "Especially goods that are liquid, must be examined carefully, including the quantity and content. If the results are out later, they will be notified to the Malang City Trade and Industry Office in writing," she explained.

However, from the interim results and from the national examination, Nona said that her party still found various product label discrepancies. She gave examples such as the omission of the manufacturer's name, inappropriate weight units, and errors in writing the measurement units. "That is the result of our interim observation. The existence of this supervision refers to the Regulation of the Minister of Trade Number 31 of 2011 concerning Goods in a Wrapped Condition," she said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Malang City Trade and Industry Agency, Dra. Tri Widyani P., M.Si said that her party also routinely conducts such supervision and inspections in several supermarkets. Thus, she said, the public as consumers, as well as producers and supermarket owners are not harmed. (say/yon)
