Klojen, MC – The attention and support of the Mayor of Malang, H. Moch. Anton for the advancement of pencak silat sports in Malang City received special appreciation from the Indonesian Pencak Silat Association (IPSI) of Malang City.

The number one person in the Malang City Government was named as an Honorary Warrior of the Malang City IPSI while attending the Pencak Silat performance by the Malang City IPSI in the yard of the Malang City Dispora Office west of the Gajayana Stadium, Monday (3/10).
The awarding of the Mayor of Malang, often called Abah Anton, as an Honorary Warrior was also accompanied by various performances by members of IPSI Malang City. At least 12 members of IPSI Malang City displayed their skills in playing silat.
Abah Anton said that the awarding of the title of Honorary Warrior was an extraordinary honor. He also hopes to continue to help and encourage the development of pencak silat in Malang City so that it can achieve even more.
"We hope that IPSI Malang City can continue to develop and produce more high-achieving athletes," he hoped, Monday (3/10).
In addition, IPSI is also expected to provide more coaching to the younger generation to be able to increase the competitive spirit in their athletes.
As a Malang native, Abah Anton admitted that he really loves the sport of pencak silat, which is a traditional sport native to Indonesia. The awarding of the Honorary Warrior was even more memorable because Abah Anton became the first mayor in East Java to receive the title of Honorary Warrior from IPSI.
The Head of IPSI Malang City, Ir. Nono Suhertono said that Abah Anton received the award from IPSI because of his admirable figure, intelligence, ability to organize crew, people, and input from 12 IPSI member schools in Malang City.
"With the entry of Abah Anton, hopefully he can become an inspiring figure to continue to advance silat in Malang City," Nono hoped.
Nono added, later the figure of Abah Anton is expected to be able to inspire many people and can be respected by athletes. He said, the title of a warrior is not an arbitrary title, but is the highest award of a martial arts school.
For the silat community, a warrior is a role model and a source of pride, so with the agreement of all silat schools in Malang City, Abah Anton is expected to be a protector and unifying figure and bring progress to the sport of silat. (cah/yon)
