Yesterday, Wednesday (2/11), the Malang Immigration Office I located on Jl. Panji Suroso No. 4 Malang declared and signed a declaration of war against extortion. Since the President's instruction, the immigration office has actually followed up by forming an anti-extortion task force. This task force is tasked with monitoring and receiving complaints from the public who feel they have been victims of extortion.
These things were conveyed by the Head of the Class I Malang Immigration Office, Novianto Sulastono, SH, MH after the declaration to the media crew at his office. According to him, if later there are and it is proven that there are immigration officers who commit extortion, then strict sanctions will be imposed in accordance with PP No. 53 of 2010 concerning Civil Servant Discipline.
Personally, Novianto said he also often goes down and directly supervises whether there are indications of extortion in his agency. "Almost every day and every chance I get, I always go down to supervise the performance in each section or part. This supervision is carried out both privately and publicly," he added.
So far, the bespectacled man admitted that there had never been any findings, and he hoped that this would continue so that his agency would be free from extortion. Likewise, when confirmed about brokering, Novianto could confirm that there was none.
He further said that what might still be found in his agency is the lack of friendliness of officers and rather long service that does not meet the applicant's expectations. "However, all of that is not necessarily the fault of our officers entirely. Sometimes the applicant's requirements for making a passport cannot be met 100 percent, while the need for a passport must be as soon as possible," explained Novianto.
Meanwhile, Bambang Irianto, a resident of Malang City who happened to be taking care of his passport at that time, admitted that the service at the Immigration Office was very good. This man also admitted that he was not charged a penny when taking care of his passport. "There are no charges at the Immigration Office, and the payment for making a passport is done at the Bank. Salute to public service if it is like this," he praised. (say/yon)
