Kedungkandang, MC – The Arjowinangun Sub-district, Kedungkandang District will be used as a pilot project for an innovation village as the sub-district is programmed as a Chocolate Village. This was conveyed by the Mayor of Malang, H. Moch. Anton in blusukan village and residents' meeting in Arjowinangun Subdistrict, Sunday (6/11).

At the starting point, the man who is familiarly called Abah Anton symbolically planted a cocoa tree with the residents before starting. blusukan village whose agenda is held every two weeks. In the Arjowinangun Village area, two hectares of land have also been prepared. In addition, most of the Malang City Government's land assets are in Arjowinangun Village, and will also be planted with cocoa trees.
The launch of Kampung Cokelat is in accordance with one of the programs of the Mayor of Malang to create Thematic Villages in five sub-districts in Malang City. Later, the Malang City Government through the Agriculture Service will also involve researchers from academic circles to maximize the program.
"In five sub-districts I will ask to provide special land for agriculture and plant it with fruit or secondary crops such as corn, potatoes, soybeans, and others. In 2017 we will also provide agricultural tax relief for residents, so that the Thematic Village or Innovation Village program can be implemented optimally," explained Abah Anton.
The Arjowinangun sub-district, continued the PKB politician, is expected to be an inspiration for other sub-districts, and this is also in line with the emergence of many creative villages in Malang City such as Kampung Warna Warni and Kampung Glintung Go Green (3G). "This 3G village has entered the international level. And currently competing with 15 countries out of 300 previous (participating) countries to be the best," he explained.
Abah Anton also hopes that in the future, the 57 sub-districts in Malang City can bring out various creativity and innovations. "We from the Malang City Government are ready to accommodate all of that to the highest level, namely at the national and even international levels when there are creative and innovative village competitions. Apart from all that, the city government (Malang) will continue to promote the various creativity of these residents outside Malang and abroad when there is the right opportunity and time," concluded Abah Anton.
