Jakarta - As the highest coordination forum led directly by the President, the cabinet meeting produces various decisions that are important for the public to know. The various policies decided are national-scale policies that have a broad impact on society.
The importance of disseminating the results of this meeting was emphasized by Cabinet Secretary, Pramono Anung when explaining the function of the Cabinet Secretariat recently. He said, in addition to being awaited by the community, media, social media, and the public, the results of the Cabinet Meeting are also awaited by the government bureaucracy.
"Whatever the decision of the Cabinet Meeting is delivered by the relevant Minister together with the Cabinet Secretary is always awaited. And because it becomes news and also becomes something that must be implemented by this Government," explained the Cabinet Secretary.
Every decision made must be conveyed to the public and documented in a Presidential Decree or Presidential Regulation. This is the responsibility of the Cabinet Secretariat.
As regulated in Presidential Decree Number 25 of 2015, the Cabinet Secretariat has the task of providing support for cabinet management to the President and Vice President in the administration of government.
One of its functions is the preparation, administration, organization and management of cabinet sessions, meetings or gatherings led or attended by the President and/or Vice President.
"Almost all cabinet management is in the Cabinet Secretariat. So that the running of the government, the running of cabinet meetings, then how the decisions can be implemented, that is the responsibility of the Cabinet Secretariat," he added.
Cabinet meetings held by the President can be in the form of plenary cabinet meetings attended by Ministers and other designated state officials. This meeting discusses general issues and important problems faced by the state and the implementation of government in general.
It can also be a limited cabinet meeting or limited meeting (ratas) attended by Ministers and officials related to the topic being discussed. The meeting, which is held occasionally, discusses certain current problems/issues that are developing in society. In addition to the Cabinet Meeting, the President can also hold a meeting or coordination meeting with various specific units.
Previously, during the Plenary Cabinet Session, Wednesday (19/8/2015), President Jokowi emphasized that every cabinet session, whether plenary or limited, all ministers could attend because the direction would be clearer.
Furthermore, as regulated in Cabinet Regulation Number 4 of 2015, the Cabinet Secretariat under the Deputy for Cabinet Work Support assists in providing support for cabinet management in terms of preparing, administering, organizing and managing cabinet meetings.
Its functions include the implementation of administrative affairs and preparation of cabinet meeting materials; preparation of minutes and documentation, distribution and publication of cabinet meeting results, and the implementation of documentation matters related to the implementation of cabinet meetings.
