Jakarta - When talking about eradicating corruption and extortion practices, improving the quality of public services, winning global competition with excellent public services, then in fact members of Korpri (Indonesian Civil Servant Corps_ed) are at the forefront of the struggle. This was conveyed by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi_ed) when he became the instructor of the 45th Korpri Day Commemoration ceremony at Monas Field, Jakarta, Tuesday (29/11).
Therefore, in order to provide excellent service, innovations in public services are absolutely necessary. Any obstacles that have the potential to reduce the effectiveness of the pace of national development are also requested to be eliminated.
"Continue to innovate so that public services can be cheaper, faster, and better. Eliminate various obstacles that can reduce productivity and hinder the acceleration of national development," he said.
At the beginning of his speech, President Jokowi appreciated the theme of the 45th Korpri Day commemoration, namely 'Together with Korpri, Strengthening Neutrality and Increasing the Professionalism of State Civil Apparatus'. He considered the theme very appropriate to be applied ahead of the 2017 Simultaneous Regional Elections.
"Remember that the devotion of Korpri members is not for group or individual interests, but rather the devotion of Korpri members is only for the state, nation and people," he emphasized again.
In addition, in order to become a winning nation in this era of competition, President Jokowi also asked ASN to leave old patterns. Mentality and discipline are things he specifically mentioned.
"The people need Korpri members who are disciplined, responsible, and work-oriented. Immediately abandon past mindsets such as sectoral ego, priyayi mentality, ruler mentality, and corrupt mentality that is only fixated on formalities," said the President of the Republic of Indonesia.
Concluding his remarks, while providing encouragement and motivation to ASN in carrying out their duties, President Jokowi also inaugurated the shop online Korpri and Korpri Expo 2016.
“By saying Bismillahirrahmanirrahim, I officially launch the Korpri Online Store and the 2016 Korpri Expo. May it be useful for all ASN employees. Happy 45th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia Civil Servant Corps. Korpri Keep Moving Forward!” he exclaimed.
After the event, President Jokowi took the time to review the Korpri online store booth located around the event location. During the review, President Jokowi was accompanied by the Minister of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform Asman Abnur.
On that occasion, President Jokowi was asked by journalists about the mention of ASN neutrality in his directive. The President then answered that the directive was only to remind the ASN about their duties which must be excellent in providing services to the public.
“Yes, just a reminder, a reminder to all our Civil Servants, to our Korpri ranks in this Pilkada. That is indeed the rule, must be neutral. If not, there are also legal provisions. Just a reminder so that all Korpri members do not forget that. That's all," he replied.
Furthermore, President Jokowi also revealed that at the age of 45 Korpri still needs to build a new system that will make public service better. However, he admitted that the work is a job that requires process and time.
"This is a long process. Combining all ministries, provinces, districts/cities. This is a long job," he added.
