Commander of V/Brawijaya Military Region Appreciates Synergy Between Ulama and Umara

Breadfruit (malangkota.go.id) – Commander of the V/Brawijaya Military Regional Command (Kodam) Major General TNI I Made Sukadana appealed to the ulama and umara to always unite and work together to help overcome various national problems, especially related to acts of terrorism and anticipating radicalism. According to him, this needs special attention, because it can divide the unity of the people and the nation.

Commander of the V/Brawijaya Military Region Major General TNI I Made Sukadana explained the important role of synergy between ulama and umara in maintaining the stability of the country.

The Commander of V/Brawijaya Military Command conveyed this when attending the Dialogue of Religious Figures and Umara throughout East Java in 2017 at the Ijen Suite Hotel, Malang City, Wednesday (1/3). In addition to playing a role in maintaining the integrity of the Republic of Indonesia, the unification of ulama and umara, continued Maj. Gen. Sukadana, is also to strengthen tolerance between religious communities.

"With the unification of the ulama and umara, when there is a problem it must be communicated well in an existing forum like this. Thus, the polemics that occur in society will immediately find the best solution. Therefore, a moment like this is very effective in solving various problems of the nation and people," he explained.

Related to the emergence or rampant radicalism and terrorism, Major General Sukadana said that the role of ulama and umara is also very large. Ulama can provide enlightenment to the people and the government can resolve it through various policies issued, so that it can reduce and even eliminate these negative acts.

He added that the triggers for the emergence of terrorism are many, including domestic, cultural and economic factors. Therefore, the ulama and umara must always unite and make various approaches to the people so that they do not get caught up in actions that are detrimental to the country and society.

"What also needs to be anticipated is the threat and disruption of state security from technological advances, namely social media in particular. Citizens should not be easily provoked by news or information that is not necessarily true. We must be smart in responding to various problems, and if there is a misunderstanding, it must be discussed properly," concluded Maj. Gen. Sukadana. (say/yon)
