Head of the Cooperatives and Micro Business Service of Malang City Dra. Tri Widyani P., M.Si in her speech expressed the importance of knowing the ins and outs of cooperatives including capital management. Therefore, according to her, activities like this must be appreciated well so that cooperatives can continue to be the mainstay of the economy.

"The Malang City Government wants to empower micro businesses in Malang City through cooperatives so that they have good competitiveness," explained Yani, Tri Widyani's nickname, Thursday (16\3).

Through cooperatives, Yani hopes that micro businesses in Malang City will be able to compete amidst increasingly tight competition in all fields. The success of cooperatives in Kulon Progo, Yogyakarta, which can have modern retail stores can be a real example.

Moreover, Malang City also has a good example of a cooperative, namely the Setia Budi Wanita Cooperative (SBW) which still exists amidst the progress of the times. "This should be a motivation for the participants of the activity to be more enthusiastic in developing their businesses," he said.

Meanwhile, Head of Cooperative Development Division of the Malang City Cooperative and Micro Business Service, Noegroho Dwi Poetranto, SH, said that this activity is one of the efforts of the Malang City Cooperative and Micro Business Service to develop cooperatives in Malang City.

Through this activity, it is also expected that participants can understand the purpose and function of cooperatives in building and developing the economy. "Whether it is to improve the economic welfare of its members or also the cooperative administrators," explained Noegroho.

The speakers who filled the workshop this time included those from the Malang City Cooperative and Micro Business Service, the East Java Province Cooperative and UMKM Service, and from BNI. (cah/yon)
