Starfruit (malangkota.go.id) – Malang Mayor H. Moch. Anton inaugurated the Polowijen Cultural Village and laid the first stone for the construction of the Kendedes Building located in RT 03 RW 02, Polowijen Village, Blimbing District, Malang City, Sunday (2/4).

Head of the Malang City Culture and Tourism Office (Disbudpar) Ida Ayu Made Wahyuni, SH, M.Si, Blimbing Sub-district Head Drs. Priyadi, MM, and also local community leaders were present on this occasion.
The Mayor of Malang, who is usually called Abah Anton by his residents, welcomed the existence of Polowijen Cultural Village as a place to develop ancestral cultural heritage. "Preserving this culture is very important and must be done, therefore I really appreciate it," said Abah Anton.
It was also explained that in addition to being an effort to preserve cultural heritage, the existence of the Polowijen Cultural Village is also projected to become a tourist destination. "Hopefully in the future the presence of the Polowijen Cultural Village will be able to become an attraction for tourists, both domestic and foreign," he hoped.
Head of Malang City's Culture and Tourism Office Ida Ayu Made Wahyuni, SH, M.Si revealed that Polowijen Cultural Village has a strong historical side, especially in terms of Mask Dance. That is why the Malang City Government will continue to encourage the village (Polowijen_ed) to have unique characteristics and become a tourist visit.
He added that one way is to collaborate travel agent which will later direct tourists to visit the Polowijen Cultural Village. "We will later provide knick-knacks to strengthen the characteristics of this village," said Ida.
Meanwhile, Blimbing Sub-district Head Drs. Priyadi, MM said that the presence of Polowijen Cultural Village adds to the series of thematic villages in the Blimbing Sub-district. "There are already five thematic villages in Blimbing at this time," he explained.
The five thematic villages include Glintung Go Green Village, Warna Warni Village, Tridi Village, Vegetable Picking Village, and Polowijen Cultural Village. "There are still many other villages that have the potential to become thematic villages," concluded Priyadi. (say/yon)
