Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – The commitment to building a Creative City continues to be demonstrated by the Malang City Government. Deputy Mayor of Malang Drs. Sutiaji when he was a speaker in an open discussion 'Parade Perca' at the Kompas Malang Building, Monday (3/4), said that the main task of the government is to encourage the improvement of the community's economy.

According to him, the presence of several communities engaged in the creative economy is a very positive thing, and the government must take part in providing encouragement. "We continue to strive to build the community's economy. Because if the economy is good, the quality of democracy will also increase," said Sutiaji.
The government's main task, he added, is none other than to make people live prosperously and decently. "Therefore our task is to be a facilitator for entrepreneurs engaged in the creative economy," he explained.
Regarding the patchwork craft initiated by the Malang Patchwork and Quilts Community (Mapaquilts), Sutiaji admitted that he really appreciated it and the government would provide facilities, both land and access to capital assistance and loans from banks as regulated in Law No. 2 of 2012.
"The Mapaquilts community and other creative communities are very positive, and what needs to be built is a special place for workshops. Where later all creative and processed industries will gather in one place and can develop their creations together," he said.
On behalf of the Malang City Government, Sutiaji also gave awards to the Mapaquilts Community and Kompas who have helped grow the creative economy.
"Today we have all begun to unravel and make many people aware that we must start what we have planned, not just talk about it. When I was walking around looking at the products from Mapaquilts, it felt extraordinary the creative results here," he said.
The open discussion of the 'Parade Perca' also helped educate the public that waste, which was previously considered a specter, can be transformed into goods that have economic value. (say/yon)
