Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – The Cooperatives and Micro Business Service of Malang City held technical guidance on the implementation of member meetings at the Sahid Montana Hotel Malang, Tuesday (18/4). This technical guidance was held so that cooperative member meetings would be implemented in accordance with Permenkop 19/Per/M.KUKM/IX/2015 concerning the Implementation of Cooperative Member Meetings.

This technical guidance was attended by 140 participants from representatives of 70 cooperatives in Malang City. Currently, there are approximately 700 cooperatives recorded and of that number, 50 percent have not yet held member meetings in accordance with the Permenkop. "In the future, the Malang City Cooperative and Micro Business Service will provide assistance and coaching so that all cooperatives can be healthy," explained the Secretary of the Malang City Cooperative and Micro Business Service, Martha MRL Tobing, SH, MM on the sidelines of the event.
He added that his party will continue to provide assistance and guidance to cooperatives that have not held member meetings in accordance with the Minister of Cooperatives Regulation.
"Every year, the cooperative management must hold a member meeting, and its implementation must be in accordance with applicable regulations. As well as members must be active in every activity, namely in giving their votes or opinions. In a cooperative, every success or deficiency must be notified to all members," explained Martha.
Cooperatives as a vehicle for the people's economic struggle are required to be able to play an active role in building and developing the economic potential of members and the community. Because cooperatives are the mainstay of the Indonesian economy that have been proven to be able to survive and stand strong when the economic crisis hits.
On the other hand, Martha continued, society, especially the cooperative movement, must not be careless or complacent in the comfortable situation of the past era because currently the economic market is wide open, free and without limits.
From this, the obstacles, barriers and challenges in the economic sector, especially in cooperatives, are getting bigger and heavier. "This requires awareness and responsibility of a cooperative to its members. Both in terms of institutions, financial accountability, and business development," explained Martha.
One form of accountability is the implementation of the annual member meeting (RAT) held by each cooperative in accordance with the mandate of Law No. 25 of 1992 concerning Cooperatives. "The cooperative organizational apparatus consists of member meetings, administrators and supervisors. The highest position in a cooperative is the member meeting, where everything related to cooperative life is discussed, planned and decided, including evaluations during the cooperative's implementation of the mandate from members," concluded Martha.
