Ministry of Communication and Information Invites Students to Fight Drugs for the Future

Klojen (malangkota.go.id) - The spread and abuse of narcotics and dangerous drugs/materials (narcotics) is currently increasingly worrying. Various efforts are being made to overcome and eradicate the abuse and distribution of these illicit goods.

Head of Unit I of the Malang City Police Narcotics Research Unit, Iptu Gunawan Marsudi, delivered his material interactively.

Especially students as the young generation who will continue the nation, they must be given an understanding, both the form of drug abuse, its bad impacts, and the legal traps for drug abusers so that a strong fortress and foundation are created. On that basis, the Malang City Communication and Informatics Agency (Kominfo) held an interactive dialogue with the theme Stay Away from Drugs for the Future by inviting 100 junior high and high school students in Malang City.

Inviting competent resource persons, namely the Head of the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) of Malang City and the Head of Unit I of the Malang City Police Narcotics Research Unit, the interactive dialogue held in the Pinus Room of the Savana Hotel, Malang, Wednesday (24/5) was lively and interesting.

In the speech of the Head of the Malang City Communication and Information Service which was read by the Head of Public Information for the Malang City Communication and Information Service, Boedi Utomo, M.Si, it was conveyed that the abuse of narcotics and drugs/dangerous materials occurs due to a lack of knowledge and/or a lack of understanding of the consequences that must be faced which can damage the future.

"Various efforts, both prevention and enforcement have been made. However, if we only rely on the authorities, namely the Police and BNN, it is not enough. That is why the role of the community is also needed, and also we from the Malang City Government to take preventive steps as one form of prevention efforts, namely by carrying out activities like this," he explained.

The first resource person, Head of BNN Malang City AKBP Ir. Bambang Sugiharto, M.Si in his material conveyed the various types of drugs in circulation and their negative impacts. "Per year there are 12.044 people who die or 33 people per day due to the impact of drug abuse," he said.

That is why he invited students to avoid all forms of drugs for a bright future. "The way to avoid it is by strengthening faith, seeking information carefully, being wise in socializing, familytime, self-confidence, and carrying out various positive activities," he explained.

Meanwhile, Head of Unit I of the Malang City Police Narcotics Unit, Iptu Gunawan Marsudi, discussed more about the law on narcotics. At the beginning of the material presented, Iptu Gunawan invited the participants to say no to drugs and Yes to achieve achievements so that students have more motivation in pursuing their dreams and future. "From the results of uncovering cases, every year there is a drug trafficking network involving students or college students," he said.

Great curiosity to try, without realizing or thinking long about the consequences, the wrong understanding that occasional use is not addictive, running away from boredom, problems or hardships in life, said Mr. Gun, as Iptu Gunawan is familiarly called, are some individual factors why people dare to try abusing drugs. "In addition, family environment, school environment, and peer environment are also very influential," he continued.

He emphasized that drugs are very dangerous and even very evil if misused. "Drugs should not be misused for any reason. This requires the participation of all parties including students to be able to ward off the dangers of drugs," he concluded. (yon)
