Ahead of Ramadan, Malang City TPID Monitors Prices of Basic Necessities

Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – Anticipating and ensuring that there are no unreasonable price spikes ahead of the Holy Month of Ramadan, the Malang City Regional Inflation Control Team (TPID) conducted surprise inspections to several markets in Malang City led directly by the Deputy Mayor of Malang Drs. The first market reviewed was Oro-oro Dowo Market, then continued to Bareng Market. From the monitoring conducted, from the two markets there has been no unreasonable increase in the price of basic necessities.

Deputy Mayor of Malang Drs. Sutiaji revealed, after seeing the conditions in the field directly, the availability of basic necessities in Malang City is still safe. This inspection was carried out, among other things, to convince the public that the prices of basic necessities during Ramadan until Eid al-Fitr are still under control.

"The increase is still within reasonable limits. If there is an unreasonable increase in the price of basic necessities, the task force from the side ranks will take action," explained Sutiaji, Friday (26/5).

In addition to appealing to traders not to raise prices unreasonably, Deputy Mayor Sutiaji also asked the public to buy basic necessities in moderation. This is done to maintain the stability of basic food prices so that they do not spike beyond reasonable limits.

"Business people and distributors should also not hoard basic necessities so that the prices of basic necessities in the market remain affordable for the public," he appealed again.

Meanwhile, Sahlan, one of the traders at Oro-oro Dowo Market, confirmed that the price increase in his powder did occur before Ramadan. But the increase was not much and was still reasonable, because as he said, the buyers who came to his place were mostly his customers.

"Finding customers is not easy, if I raise prices too high of course customers will leave. "If customers run away, of course I will suffer the loss," said Sahlan.

In addition to the Deputy Mayor of Malang, the inspection this time was also attended by all ranks of the Malang City TPID, namely from the Malang City Trade Service, the Malang City Agriculture and Food Security Service, the Economic Development Section, Bank Indonesia Malang. (cah/yon)
