Lowokwaru (malangkota.go.id) – Lately, some people tend to spend too much time on unnecessary things, such as demonstrating against each other, insulting each other, and not maintaining tolerance. People have begun to forget that we are brothers and forget about the diversity of tribes, languages, and religions.
We are one nation, one homeland, and one nation that has noble customs. We must realize that Indonesia is a big country and has various diversities that from all of that can actually give birth to a beauty and strong brotherhood.
Several things were conveyed by the President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo (Jokowi) when attending the 1438 H Ramadan Study event at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM), Saturday (3/5). President Jokowi said that to overcome the various forgetfulness of the community, there are three important things that must be observed and considered. The first is the religious spirit that has been given the widest possible space by the State, from here it is a great capital to restore the spirit of Islamic brotherhood and national brotherhood for all people.
"The second is education. Education must be based on religious values, ethics, integrity, quality, and a strong mentality, so that quality human resources will be born or can be built. This is considering that competition between nations in the future will be increasingly fierce. And it will be useless for someone who has high knowledge if they do not apply these values," said the alumnus of the Faculty of Forestry, UGM.
The third, he continued, is to increase the values of brotherhood between religious communities and groups. According to him, with strong brotherhood, it will give birth to an attitude of tolerance, mutual respect and appreciation for each other. "We will also become a nation that is whole and not easily shaken by various threats or disturbances from outside with a strong foundation like this," he explained.
At the end of his speech, President Jokowi invited all citizens to return to our identity as a great nation. "Let us return to a high work ethic, return to high productivity, return to high national discipline, and high morals and decency," he invited.
"Why do we always spend energy on useless things, because now is the era of competition. Foreign countries have made a lot of progress in various fields, but this nation is only struggling with unnecessary things. Let's fill this independence with positive things, give birth to a competitive future generation and return to being a great nation," concluded. (say/yon)
