Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs Appreciates Cooperative Development in Malang City

Jakarta (malangkota.go.id) – The Malang City Government through the Malang City Cooperatives and Micro Enterprises Service continues to strive to develop cooperatives as an effort to drive the wheels of the economy.

The development of cooperatives in Malang City has shown a positive graph, and this has received appreciation from the Ministry of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises (Kemenkop and UKM) of the Republic of Indonesia.

The Ministry of Cooperatives has seen the city government's concern in developing cooperatives through various programs in the past few years. Including the development of cooperatives and SMEs in Malang City, the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs provides appreciation and also plans to provide assistance.

Minister of Cooperatives and SMEs Drs. Anak Agung Gede Ngurah Puspayoga said that so far the Malang City Government has been very good at developing cooperatives and SMEs as part of improving the community's economy.

"The Ministry (of Cooperatives and SMEs) is very interested in the steps that the Malang City Government continues to take in developing cooperatives. We are also interested in providing assistance to Malang City," said Minister Puspayoga when meeting with the Mayor of Malang H. Moch. Anton along with the Head of the Malang City Research and Development Agency Drs. Wasto, SH. MH, Head of the Malang City Cooperatives and Micro Enterprises Service Dra. Tri Widyani P., M.Si, and the Head of Public Relations of the Malang City Secretariat at the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs Office, Jl. Rasuna Said Jakarta, Friday (16/6).

Minister AAGN Puspayoga hopes that Malang City can continue to develop cooperatives and SMEs, so that in the future the wheels of the economy in Malang City can increase and have a positive impact on the community.

Meanwhile, Malang Mayor H. Moch. Anton revealed that the development of cooperatives in Malang City is in line with the government's aspirations to continue to boost the development of the economy through various sectors.

"Cooperatives are a sector that we continue to develop, I have ordered the Cooperatives and UM Service to create a good program for its development," said Abah Anton, as the Mayor of Malang is usually called.

"In Malang City, we continue to strive so that cooperatives can rise and become healthy cooperatives, because those who will benefit from them will be our own community," he explained.

Abah Anton hopes that the disbursement from the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs to the Malang City Government can boost economic growth in Malang City, which is quite high in East Java.

"Cooperatives are the pillars of the economy in Indonesia. Therefore, we can develop a people's economic model based on cooperatives and SMEs in the future," he added.

Several cooperatives in Malang City, said Abah Anton, already have a good organizational structure and have many members. These cooperatives are used as examples for other cooperatives so that in the future hundreds of cooperatives in Malang City can improve the economy. "Our commitment is very strong to the development of cooperatives in Malang City," said Abah Anton.

Head of the Cooperatives and Micro Business Service of Malang City Dra. Tri Widyani P., M.Si added that so far her party has continued to roll out various programs with the aim of making cooperatives in Malang City increasingly developed.

"Cooperatives are not only savings and loans, but can be moved to other business units, because there is a close relationship between cooperatives and SMEs. That is what we will continue to encourage through various programs," he said.

The woman who is familiarly called Yani revealed that currently the number of cooperatives in Malang City is around 700, and there are several cooperatives that have been used as examples by the city government to develop other cooperatives.

"The better cooperatives are those that have many active members, they can build business units and develop them, not just savings and loans," explained Yani. (say/yon)
