The Malang City Government continues to strive to boost real economic growth by increasing the growth of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). Therefore, the Malang City Government is trying to bring MSMEs in Malang City online in order to build a digital economy in Malang City.
The potential of Malang City's MSMEs has its own appeal for online platform providers. "Malang City is the largest supplier of products on Tokopedia, and MSMEs that have Go Online only 3%,” said Deo Nathaniel.
Therefore, the Malang City Cooperatives and MSMEs Service together with the Ministry of Communication and Information, Digital Community, and Tokopedia collaborated to hold an educational workshop for Malang City MSMEs to enter the online platform.
Responding to this, the Mayor of Malang, H. Moch. Anton, welcomed it. "This program really needs to be followed up, because the increase in MSMEs if not assisted by the city government or the central government, they will continue to grow and shrink," explained the man who is familiarly called Abah Anton.
"Because of the 70.000 entrepreneurs in Malang City, 90% of them are micro entrepreneurs. This is a potential for Malang City and the growth of the MSME sector," he added.
Meanwhile, the Assistant for Economic Affairs of the Malang City Regional Secretariat, Ir. Budi Herwanto, MT expressed his hope that the UMKM program Go Online to One Million This can later be used as a sustainable program for MSMEs in Malang City. (say/yon)
