Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – Malang Flower Carnival (MFC) with the theme 'Eksotika Bunga Nusantara' in 2017 is the seventh event. One of the prestigious events held by the Malang City Government through the Malang City Culture and Tourism Office was held yesterday, Sunday (10/9) along Jl. Ijen, Malang City.

MFC was officially opened by the Regional Secretary of Malang City Drs. Wasto, SH, MH and attended by approximately 214 participants. This event was also attended by the Mayor of Malang H. Moch. Anton, Chairperson of TP PKK Malang City, Hj. Dewi Farida Suryani, Deputy for Development of Domestic Tourism Marketing of the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism Esthy Reko Astuti, Forkopimda Malang City and several representatives from regencies/cities in Indonesia.
In her speech, the Head of the Malang City Culture and Tourism Office Ida Ayu Made Wahyuni, SH, M.Si said that the MFC was held to emphasize the identity of Malang City as a beautiful, friendly and pleasant city, and has many alternative interesting tourist destinations that are worth visiting. "We will try to strengthen the image of Malang City which is known as the City of Flowers," said Ida Ayu.
"Through this MFC, we also hope to be able to develop the potential for participation of Malang City residents and encourage community creativity which is increasingly driven by not abandoning the spirit of... go green in making environmental preservation a success. This (MFC) activity emphasizes the use of recycled fabrics and paper," he added.
Chairman of Malang Flower Carnival, Agus Sunandar on the sidelines of the event also expressed his enthusiasm. "This will be even more interesting, because it will also be filled with cultural performances from various countries such as Malaysia, Thailand, China, Australia, and Belgium," he said.
Meanwhile, the Deputy for Domestic Tourism Marketing Development at the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism, Esthy Reko Astuti, advised that in the future, MFC must continue to be evaluated and developed so that it can improve, such as Jember Fashion Carnival. "In addition, local governments must also pay attention to commercial value and cultural values for the community so that this activity can also benefit the residents of Malang City. The environment must also be considered," he said.
The same thing was also expressed by the Mayor of Malang, H. Moch. Anton. The man who is often called Abah Anton said that the organizing committee of the activity must continue to be able to increase creativity so that the MFC can continue to be implemented sustainably and increasingly interesting. "If you want this activity to continue continuously from year to year, then the committee must be creative so that it does not seem boring, there must be something new in each implementation," concluded Abah Anton.
