Starfruit (malangkota.go.id) – From data obtained from the Community-Based Rehabilitation Development Center (PPRBM) in 2016, there were 1.083 people with disabilities in Malang City.
This number can still increase with the data collection in 2017. From the data, 1.083 are still outside the orphanage, while as many as 650 people with disabilities already have orphanages spread across each sub-district in Malang City.
To discuss what rights are required by people with disabilities, the Malang City Social Service in collaboration with the Community-Based Rehabilitation Development Center (PPRBM) of the Bakti Luhur Foundation held a Seminar on the Rights of People with Disabilities with an Individual Rehabilitation Plan (IRP) Approach in the Malang City Social Service hall, Wednesday (20/9).
Head of the Malang City Social Service, Dra. Sri Wahyuningtyas, M.Si. said that the Malang City Government is trying to facilitate people with disabilities, because it will help and the rights that people with disabilities deserve.
"Stakeholders such as OPDs within the Malang City Government also play an important role in handling and protecting people with disabilities in Malang City," explained Yuyun, as the Head of the Social Service is familiarly called.
Bhakti Luhur Foundation is a foundation engaged in the field of humanity, one of its works is to rehabilitate people with disabilities with both boarding and non-boarding systems. To rehabilitate people with disabilities, Bhakti Luhur Foundation uses the Individual Rehabilitation Plan (IRP) system based on the type of disability and the ability of the person with disabilities.
The purpose of holding this seminar is for participants to know Individual Rehabilitation Plan which has been carried out by the Bhakti Luhur Foundation and can participate in building Malang City which is friendly to people with disabilities, in accordance with the functions of the institutions/organizations participating in the seminar.
It is hoped that after participating in this activity, participants will be able to understand the purpose of Individual Rehabilitation Plan, and produce an action plan to be implemented in the scope of work. (ind/yon)
