Malang City Government Launches Farmer Card

Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – The Malang City Government through the Malang City Agriculture and Food Security Service in collaboration with banking institutions launched the Farmer Card program to distribute aid and subsidies to farmers in Malang City.

During the launching of the Farmer Card which was held in the hall of Lesanpuro Village, Kedungkandang District, Malang City, Tuesday (26/9), assistance was also officially handed over from the Directorate General of Agricultural Infrastructure and Facilities, Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia in the form of four-wheeled tractors and hand tracker.

The two farmer groups that received assistance from the Ministry of Agriculture were the Sido Makmur Farmer Group from Lesanpuro Village and the Makmur Jaya Farmer Group from Bumiayu Village.

Head of the Malang City Agriculture and Food Security Service, Sri Winarni, SH, said that integrated efforts need to be made to increase agricultural productivity, namely by means of intensification and extensification such as increasing the availability of irrigation water, providing seeds, fertilizers and agricultural machinery.

"Through the Farmer Card program, we hope that the welfare of farmers can be improved, so that food security in Malang City will also be maintained," hoped Sri Winarni.

Farmer Card is a medium for distributing social assistance and subsidies using a multifunction card issued by banks. Farmer Card functions as a savings card and wallet/e-wallet (combo) for shopping.

The savings feature embedded in the Farmer Card is a savings in the form of a bank account that can be withdrawn in cash with the TabunganKu product type. The features e-wallet is an electronic money savings that can be used to purchase goods and can be used to store assistance and subsidies for the Family Hope Program (PKH), Food Assistance, Education, Gas, Fertilizer subsidies and Regional Government Programs.

The main benefit of the Farmer Card is as an accurate farmer database, which also functions as a means of redeeming subsidized fertilizer at fertilizer agents. With the Farmer Card, the distribution of subsidized fertilizer can be more controlled, because it will be recorded in real time - online and can be monitored through the means dashboard that has been provided.
