Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – In the framework of National Batik Day 2017, the Malang City Government together with IKIP Budi Utomo and Batik Tulis Celaket (BTC) held various activities in the front yard of Malang City Hall, (2/10).

Deputy Mayor of Malang Drs. Sutiaji welcomed the 2017 National Batik Day themed “Batik for Tolerance”. “Malang also has batik products. I hope in the future Malang batik will go global,” said Sutiaji in his speech.
Also present at this event were members of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Ir. HM Ridwan Hisjam and Rieke Diah Pitaloka, as well as the Chancellor of IKIP Budi Utomo Malang Nurcholis Sunuyeko.
In addition to raising the potential of Malang batik, Sutiaji continued, this activity is also expected to be a symbol of tolerance between tribes in Indonesia. This National Batik Day coincides with World Tolerance Day, so batik can also be used as a symbol of tolerance and unifying the nation.
The peak of the National Batik Day Commemoration in Malang City was enlivened by a Malang batik fashion show displayed by models from Andre Modelling School (AMS) Malang City. The models walked on catwalk accompanied by instrumental music.
