Lowokwaru, (malangkota.go.id) – Maintaining local arts and culture while introducing them to a wider audience at the international level continues to be carried out by the Malang City Government, through the Department of Culture and Tourism (Disbudpar).

MAWE: A performance of one of the arts that really amazed visitors to the Culture and Art Festival (MAWE) at Taman Krida, Jalan Sukarno-Hatta, Tuesday (4/10) evening.

One of the efforts made was to hold an international scale event entitled the Malang Culture and Art Festival (MAWE) at Taman Krida, Jalan Sukarno-Hatta, Tuesday (4/10) evening.

The program, which carries a cultural diplomacy mission, is held with the concept of collaboration between local and foreign arts. In the second moment of its implementation, several dance artists from China became performers at the event.

The MAWE event was even more lively because this year it brought in the famous artist Didik Nini Thowok who showed off his skills in dancing traditional Javanese dances.

Head of Disbudpar, Ida Ayu Made Wahyuni, SH., MH said, the cultural diplomacy mission packaged in MAWE is none other than to introduce the richness of local arts and culture to the international community.

It is hoped that with this activity, local arts, culture and traditions can be better known and can become a tourism attraction for Malang City, which is currently continuing to innovate to attract foreign and domestic tourists.

"The goal of MAWE is to promote our culture and arts with the hope that this activity can have a positive impact on the world of tourism," said Ida Ayu.

It was also said that currently the Malang City Disbdudpar is also actively creating 'event tourism', where MAWE is one of the events out of around 25 events that have been prepared.

The presence of the Malang Flower Carnival (MFC), the Nusantara String Festival, and various other festivals are expected to be able to attract tourists to come to Malang City. "We are indeed advised to make several annual event and it has been felt to have a very good effect in boosting tourism," he concluded. (say/ram)
