Malang Mayor Reminds of the Importance of Preserving Arts and Culture

Lowokwaru (malangkota.go.id) – Malang Mayor H. Moch. Anton opened the annual routine activity of the Merjosari Village Clean Carnival, Lowokwaru District, Malang City, Sunday (8/10).

Hundreds of participants from Merjosari Village showed off their creations. Taking the big theme 'Merjosari Bangkit', this carnival showcased the richness of the archipelago's culture, from Javanese, Kalimantan to Balinese.

In his speech, the Mayor of Malang, H. Moch. Anton, admitted that he greatly appreciated the carnival. According to him, because in addition to having philosophical value, through activities such as this, it is also an effort to preserve local culture.

"This cultural preservation activity is very good and very positive, so that our culture continues to exist and is loved by all levels of society," said Abah Anton, as the Mayor of Malang is familiarly called.

In addition, it was also said that the creativity of the residents in creating ideas and concepts was expressed in dance movements and making clothes.

"Of course we will continue to support this event, because this village clean carnival has a strong message about how to be grateful to God as well as efforts to maintain environmental cleanliness," he said.

The friendly man advised the community to continue to maintain local traditions and culture amidst the current flow of globalization and modernization.
