Malang (malangkota.go.id) – The Malang City Agriculture and Food Security Service held a freshwater fish cultivation training event attended by 40 participants at the Fish Seeding UPT in Tlogowaru, Kedungkandang District, Thursday (26/10).

Menurut Head of Fisheries Production Development Section, Fisheries Sector, Department of Agriculture and Food Security, Malang City, Januar Hendri Kurniawan, S.Pi, this fish farming training for beginners is intended to educate the people of Malang City, even though they only have limited land, they can still cultivate fish.
"We deliberately held this training for fish farming in round tarpaulin ponds. We chose this because it is considered suitable for the geographical conditions of Malang City," explained Januar.
Januar added, unlike cultivation in concrete ponds which clearly require a lot of costs, cultivation in tarpaulin ponds is relatively cheap. In addition, the advantage is that it can be done in narrow land, and it is suitable for urban areas such as Malang City.
Various basic cultivation materials were given to the participants, 90 percent of whom were novice cultivators. Starting from insight into fish business, knowledge of breeding, how to install ponds to spreading seeds and feeding fish.
In addition to speakers from the Department of Agriculture and Food Security of Malang City, on this occasion, speakers were also invited from the Training and Technology Unit for Cultivation and Fisheries Processing, the Malang City Fisheries Association (APIK), and farmer groups to inspire the enthusiasm of the participants.
The training participants, Januar said, came from various backgrounds, ranging from housewives, PKK cadres, fostered by the Malang City Social Service in Kampung Desaku Menanti, and the general public. After participating in this basic training, the participants will continue to be fostered, and also combined with fish farming groups in Malang City.
"By joining the fish farmer group, we hope that their knowledge will be further honed and increased. So that in the future there will be more quality fish farmers born from Malang City," said Yanuar.
In addition to absorbing practical material, he said, the day before the training participants underwent theoretical material at the Malang City Fish Supermarket.
"From some of our past mentors, some are now successful. Therefore, I am sure that if participants follow seriously, the opportunity for success is also very open," he concluded. (cah/yon)
