Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – One source of competitive advantage or competitiveness of a region is innovation in the field of technology, by emphasizing the direction of regional development on strengthening local potential which is the main supporter of development implementation.

For this reason, the Malang City Government through the Malang City Planning, Research and Development Agency held the 2017 Technology Innovation Competition.
After going through several stages of selection, Tuesday (31/10) at the Savana Malang Hotel, the 2017 Malang City Technology Innovation Awards were held.
The event was attended by the Mayor of Malang H. Moch. Anton, Deputy Mayor of Malang Drs. Sutiaji, Chairperson of the Malang City PKK TP Hj. Dewi Farida Suryani, and the Head of OPD within the Malang City Government.
In his speech, the Mayor of Malang, who is usually called Abah Anton, stated that technological advances have encouraged the birth of various innovations, which we often call technology-based innovations. Development in the field of technology essentially provides a significant contribution to improving the quality of life and improving the welfare of society.
"To that end, the regional government is obliged to foster motivation, provide stimulation and facilities, create a conducive climate for the growth and synergy of institutional elements, resources, and science and technology networks in its administrative area, as an inseparable part of the national system of research, development, and application of science and technology," explained Abah Anton.
The Inotek Award was initiated with the Technology Innovation Competition that has been implemented. The Technology Innovation Competition is divided into four categories of innovation fields, namely agribusiness, energy, information and communication technology, and the environment.
The number of participants in the 2017 Malang City Technology Innovation Competition is as many as the number of proposals uploaded. inotek.malangkota.go.id namely a total of 166 proposals, but those that were worthy of being verified by the jury team were 136 proposals, divided into 33 Proposals in the Agribusiness Sector, 26 Proposals in the Energy Sector, 27 Proposals in the Environmental Sector, and 60 Proposals in the Information and Communication Technology Sector.
From the 136 proposals, a selection was made to determine the selected nominees who entered the FGD stage. Ten nominee proposals were selected for each field and then after going through several stages and assessment indicators, the first, second, and third place winners for the Agribusiness, Information and Communication Technology, Environment, and Energy fields will be determined.
On June 10, 2017, the winning innovators of the Malang City Technology Innovation Competition were determined and then officially announced and uploaded to the website. inotek.malangkota.go.id.
Abah Anton also welcomed the awarding and exhibition activities of Malang City Technology Innovation in 2017 for the second time.
"I hope that this activity can not only create a conducive climate for the growth and development of technological innovation in the city of Malang; but it is also hoped that the people of Malang in particular and the country in general can be involved, inspired, and motivated to always think creatively and innovatively which can then contribute significantly in empowering, encouraging and solving various problems faced by the community, while being able to develop regional potential and support development programs in the region, in order to realize community welfare," he explained again.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Center for Science and Technology Research of the Indonesian Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education, Dr. Ir. Sri Setiawati, MA expressed her appreciation to the Malang City Government for the implementation of the 2017 Inotek Competition. "The young generation must be IT literate. Because every day, science and technology will continue to advance and develop," she said.
"I also hope that MSMEs can also be technology-based so that the mindset and order that have been carried out traditionally can be carried out using technology. It's time for us to become technopreneurs, not entrepreneurs anymore," he said. (say/yon)
