Starfruit (malangkota.go.id) – There is something interesting about Etrovice (Electroculture Vegetable Device), research by Sintya Laylie M., Danar Wicaksono, Khurun In Nur K., and Aziz Iman W. Some time ago, the work of students from the Faculty of Agricultural Technology, Brawijaya University, Malang, was selected in the 109 Indonesian Innovation Program 2017 which was organized by Business Innovation Center (BIC) is supported by the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education.

Etrovice is an innovation that is very helpful for Indonesian farmers in overcoming crop failure. Etrovice combines monochromatic light from red and blue LED lights with sonic bloom will be able to speed up the harvest period while maintaining the quality and increasing the quantity of vegetables.
Uniquely, the music used on the Etrovice instrument is the Kebo Giro gamelan music which is usually heard at traditional Javanese wedding ceremonies.
Sintya Laylie said that soft music, including gamelan, according to research is very good for helping to speed up the harvest period while maintaining the quality and increasing the quantity of vegetables.
"Without gamelan, vegetables can usually only be harvested after 60 days. With gamelan music, from our trial, mustard greens can be harvested in 34 days," said Sintya, Wednesday (1/11).
Sintya added, not only is the harvest faster, by playing gamelan music through Etrovice, the weight of the plants is also better. "If without gamelan, from 200 square meters of the experimental area, 97,22 kilograms of mustard greens are produced, with gamelan therapy, the harvest with the same land area is 160,60 kilograms," he explained.
The encouraging results of Etrovice's research have made Sintya et al even more enthusiastic about developing it. The hope is that in the future Etrovice will be mass-produced, because currently it is only a prototype. "Our dream for the future is that Etrovice can be a mainstay for farmers, and can be a solution for the country," said Sintya.
Etrovice itself is recognized by Sintya to be applied every day with a time interval of 17.00 WIB to 20.00 WIB. The control box as a monochrome light controller and sonic bloom is automatically controlled based on the timer. (cah/yon)
