In addition to personnel from BPBD, personnel from the Malang City Police, Malang City Transportation Agency, Malang City PMI, and all volunteers also participated in the disaster management simulation.

Head of the Malang City Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Drs. J. Hartono revealed that several disasters occurred in Malang City entering the rainy season recently. Both fallen trees, landslides, and puddles of water that often occur when heavy rains hit.

"We hope that by actively conducting simulations and exercises, disaster management personnel in Malang City can be more prepared whenever needed," Hartono hoped, Wednesday (22/11).

In this simulation, several supporting equipment and vehicles such as fire engines were also deployed so that all disaster response personnel would be better trained in various conditions.

"This training was attended by a thousand participants. Actually, there are still many Malang residents who want to join, but due to limited facilities and time, only a thousand personnel were finally involved," said Hartono.

The more trained and alert these personnel are, the more they will provide a sense of security and comfort to the residents of Malang City and help make Malang City a Disaster Resilient City.

Disaster response personnel in Malang City itself come from government, universities, communities and volunteers.

Hartono also appealed to residents, especially those living near rivers to be more vigilant. He said, from experience so far, in addition to flooding, areas around rivers also often experience landslides during heavy rain. (cah/yon)
