Jakarta (malangkota.go.id) – Malang City Government again won the Natamukti award for the success of fostering and developing cooperatives in Malang City. This award was directly received by the Mayor of Malang H. Moch. Anton at the Ballroom of the Ministry of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises of the Republic of Indonesia, Tuesday (28/11).

In the International Council for Small Business (ICSB) Indonesia City Award 2017 forum, Markplus President, Hermawan Kertajaya, who is also a special expert staff to the Indonesian Minister of Cooperatives and SMEs, emphasized that districts/cities must be able to make their regions into regions entrepreneur.
“Conventional approaches must be abandoned. Regions must be able to develop strategies Branding maximally, and creative and innovative steps must be developed," said Hermawan.
"When I visited Kampung Warna-Warni and Kampung Glintung Go Green in Malang City, what I assessed was not only the physical changes in the environment. But there was an energy of change in the attitudes of its residents, including the growth of local economic potential," he continued.
Meanwhile, the Indonesian Minister of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises, Anak Agung Gede Ngurah Puspayoga in his speech emphasized that there were three things that were emphasized related to the revolution in the cooperative sector, namely reorientation, rehabilitation and development of cooperatives.
"Reorientation emphasizes that cooperative programs are more directed at quality targets than quantity. Rehabilitation emphasizes the importance of compiling databases and developments that lead to increasingly optimal cooperative functions, including cooperative institutions being able to provide and distribute People's Business Credit (KUR)," explained Minister Puspayoga.
The revolutionary steps in the cooperative sector, he continued, were able to increase performance and the contribution of the cooperative and SME sectors to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) which in 2015/2016 was 1.71 percent, increasing to 3,99 percent in the 2016/2017 period. Minister Puspayoga is even optimistic that it will reach the four percent digit.
"Of course, the increase requires the role of regional heads. Both through steps to improve the health of cooperative institutions, strengthen their databases, diversify businesses and develop new entrepreneurial potentials in the regions. The Natamukti Award is part of an acceleration strategy for regions that have on the track in the development and guidance of cooperatives in the regions," he said.
Meanwhile, Malang Mayor H. Moch. Anton admitted that he was proud of the Natamukti award won by Malang City. All of this, according to the man who is familiarly called Abah Anton, cannot be separated from the role and cooperation of the Malang City community.
"Thank God, because in one day Malang City won two awards. Namely the Swasti Saba Wistara award from the Indonesian Ministry of Health in the health sector and the Natamukti award from the Ministry of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises. This can be achieved because of the support, cooperation and togetherness of steps from all elements in Malang City," said Abah Anton.
The ICSB Indonesia City Award 2017 event is the result of cooperation between the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs with ICSME as the host of ICSB Indonesia in the form of the Natamukti and Natamukti Nindya 2017 awards as a form of appreciation to people who have helped advance UMKM throughout Indonesia.
