Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia Dr. (HC) H. Muhammad Jusuf Kalla encouraged universities to continue to innovate so that they can produce various research results that can be utilized by the community and the business world.

"So that the research results from a university are not merely to achieve a degree and/or become a valuable collection," said the Vice President during the inauguration of the Jusuf Kalla Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center (JK-IEC) and as a resource person at a national seminar entitled Downstreaming of Technology Innovation and Business Start Up 2017 at the Widyaloka Building, Brawijaya University, Malang, Monday (4/12).
Vice President JK said that the birth and growth of the creative economy today is driven by young people who mostly come from universities.
Vice President JK gave an example of transportation and online businesses that are currently on the rise, which are the result of young people's creativity combined with technological advances. "This combination will be very strong and produce something big if utilized optimally," he explained.
"Abundant natural resources are not an absolute guarantee that will drive a country's progress. As in Japan and China, with limited natural resources, but human resources can be relied upon. So in these countries, technology-based economies are advancing rapidly," added the man born in Watampone, Bone Regency, South Sulawesi.
The progress of a country and the business world, he said, is certainly inseparable from the role of universities that have produced many creative generations with their various researches. "So far, the results of research in universities have not been maximized, so that the results of research tend to only become collections. Things like this should not be allowed to continue so that this nation will also continue to advance and develop," concluded the 10th and 12th Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia. (say/yon)
