Starfruit (malangkota.go.id) – Ahead of the 2018 Christmas and New Year celebrations, the ranks of the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda) held a gathering to strengthen the synergy that has been well established so far.
The gathering held at the Savana Hotel Malang, Tuesday (12/12) was attended by invitees from the ranks of the TNI, Polri, Village Heads, Sub-district Heads and youth.
Malang Mayor H. Moch. Anton in his speech said that his party had long scheduled this meeting considering the Christmas and New Year moments are approaching, which are usually prone to unwanted things in the form of disturbances or security threats.
"Therefore, coordination like this must be implemented immediately in order to align the mission, vision and perception. The end result of this gathering is certainly to provide a sense of security to the residents, so that the residents feel more cared for by the government," added the man who is familiarly called Abah Anton.
To realize all that, he continued, not only the government and security forces play an active role, but community participation is very much needed, because the ones who know the condition of the surrounding environment are the community itself. This is also related to the search of a resident's house by Densus 88 on Jl. Yulius Usman some time ago, who was suspected of being a member of a terrorist network.
In relation to this, Abah Anton also appealed to residents to always be alert. "If you see something suspicious, you should immediately report it to the nearest authorities, at least to the RT or RW head. Supervision from our security officers is relatively limited, so the role of the community is also very much needed," he explained.
Meanwhile, Malang City Police Chief AKBP Asfuri expressed his readiness to assist in securing Christmas and New Year. "From the results of this meeting, we will later hold a grand assembly for security preparations, and will involve various elements, so that all parties are prepared," he explained.
"Although Malang City is currently relatively safe, do not be fooled, because threats and security disturbances can come at any time and anywhere. We are always ready and never stop reminding the public to always be like that, because what concerns security is not solely the responsibility of officers," said AKBP Asfuri. (say/yon)
